wide leg comfort and style
"This style is comfortable and flattering. I ordered a few inches larger so the pants would rest lower down and I could do a lot of bending with no constraints. The fabric is soft and drapes well. Love the long inseam."

Hey there, sailor
The Way-High® Sailor Jean features our signature Way-High® waist, a 29.5” inseam with an A-line, wide-leg silhouette in low stretch denim so you don't have to worry about these pants losing their shape. Your lower half will thank you. The best part? It’s made of premium organic cotton. Style runs small, we suggest sizing up.Conventional denim production is dirty business and we’re on a mission to clean it up. Here's how we're doing it differently—and why that matters for you.
Better denim starts with better materials. We prioritize certified organic and regenerative cotton — a tiny share of the world's supply — grown with less water and healthier soil practices. That same intention carries through to production: state-of-the-art factories that recycle up to 98% of their water, using ozone washing, air drying, and renewable energy to reduce water and energy use by design.
We work with mills and wash houses that have verifiably reduced chemical use, moving away from harmful treatments common in conventional denim. Our partners are independently tested against leading safer chemistry standards like bluesign, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and ZDHC — not self-reported claims. Fewer chemicals in your jeans, safer conditions for the people who make them, and lower environmental impact.
We don't guess at environmental impact — we verify it. Using Jeanologia's EIM, the industry benchmark standard for environmental denim wash impact, 96% of our washes score low to medium — meaning significantly less water, energy, and chemicals than conventional denim.
Our denim fabric is rigorously third-party tested multiple times from development through pre-production — verifying durability, consistency, and performance across fabric weight, tear strength, and color fastness. The result: denim built to get better with age, with more years in your wardrobe and fewer replacements.

"This style is comfortable and flattering. I ordered a few inches larger so the pants would rest lower down and I could do a lot of bending with no constraints. The fabric is soft and drapes well. Love the long inseam."
"The style and fit of these are so good. I sized up for a looser fit and glad I did because they’re perfect. They’re comfy too."
"I love the original Way High Sailor Jean. I already have them in black. They fit like a glove, and I was hoping to get the same thing in blue denim. I bought the same size but they are much too small, and much too short. I am 5’5” and bought the recommended shorter inseam. Next time I would buy the longer ones, these are much too short. 5 stars for the overall style, 2 stars for the inconsistency."
"I love the quality I’ve come to expect from Everlane, and look to them first for sturdy, comfortable lifetime wear. Unfortunately the sizing, at least for the bottoms is reliably inconsistent. Measurements within the same size across different products vary wildly, with some 23 jeans like the way high squeezing me too tight to bend and sit comfortably, and others like the size 23 utility barrel ballooning out and requiring a belt. It’s sturdy, beautiful denim, but these jeans are uncomfortably large and won’t stay up on their own without alterations. Final sale too, so no returns."
"I was worried that being a regular waist 23 in everlane with wide hips would be different in the sailor original in coal. Nope. I ordered the 24 in the 27. 5 inseam and it was slightly roomy at the waist. I like it very tight in the waist so I returned and reordered the 23. The live chat associate was very kind in helping me get price matched in the same transaction. I was able to return the 24 to a physical store and return was super easy with email address and order number."
"I’m 5’4” and the 27. 5in length is great for *just* skimming the tops of sneakers or flats. I’m considering the longer length for heeled shoes as a future purchase. These jeans fit true to size; I’m typically a 30 at Everlane. Even after several days of wear, the coal color retains its shape and doesn’t bag out. Love the high waist, fitted hip and chic wide leg silhouette."
"Comfortable, very attractive jeans."
"Love them. Comfortable fit and soft denim."
"I bought these in blue denim and loved the fit so much that I ended up buying a second pair in Coal. The color is versatile to dress up and down and provides the same comfort as the blue denim."
"I love Everlane’s way-high sailor jeans—these are my third pair. I appreciate that they’re available with a 29. 5-inch inseam. Most of Everlane’s jeans are too short for me at the regular length, and tall sizes are often limited. I also like that they fit true to size and aren’t too stiff, as black jeans are often tighter than other washes. For reference, I’m 5’7”, 125 lbs."
