The Better Fabric Care Guide

Cashmere

Cashmere is a soft and lightweight natural fiber combed from the undercoat of cashmere goats—one of the most limited in the world. With only a small yield from each goat every year, cashmere is the definition of luxury. Delivering warmth without the bulk or heaviness of wool, our cashmere is crafted with longer fibers with higher tensile strength. That means lasting quality with reduced pilling and a softer feel on the skin. Itch? Please.

Why Ours Is Better

Often duplicated, never replicated—our cashmere is better than the rest. Spun with precision, knit for softness, and reinforced to hold its shape season after season, it embodies true luxury with a lighter footprint.

We source GCS-certified, responsible cashmere from traceable, regularly audited farms that prioritize the wellbeing of goats and the land, and we also use GRS-certified recycled cashmere that cuts water, energy, and carbon use while giving existing fibers a second life.

All of our cashmere is chosen for lasting softness and long-term wearability, so it feels incredible and stands the test of time. Having high standards is always a better thing.

How to Care for It

1. Hand Wash in Cold Water

Use gentle detergent and let it soak. No scrubbing, twisting, or wringing, please. If you’re not ready to wash just yet, spot-treat stains with diluted dish soap.

2. Remove Excess Water

Gently roll it in a towel, then lay flat to dry away from direct heat or sunlight. Don’t hang while wet—stretching is good for your body, not your favorite sweater.

3. Comb and Steam

Even the highest quality knits will pill over time, which is completely natural. Once dry, refresh your knit by gently de-pilling with a cashmere comb or fabric shaver, then use steam or high heat to restore its shape and fluff the fibers.

4. Store In a Cool, Dry Place

Fold it with cedar wood balls in a drawer, storage box, or breathable sealed bag. Moths stay out, and the quality of your cashmere is preserved, keeping it in rotation season after season.

Cashmere Care Tips and Tricks

Layer Your Cashmere

Wearing it with other washable garments to avoid odor buildup and decrease the frequency of cleaning. Washing less not only preserves softness and shape, it also saves water and energy, extending the life of your piece and lowering its footprint.

Hand Wash First—Dry Clean If You Must

Hand washing is best because it’s kinder to your cashmere, keeps it softer for longer, and avoids the chemical footprint of dry cleaning. But if you must dry clean, choose a non-PERC cleaner. Traditional PERC (perchloroethylene) cleaners use a chemical that can be harmful to people and the planet with repeated exposure.

How to Repair It

Even the highest quality knits will pill over time. De-pill using a cashmere comb or fabric shaver to keep them looking fresh.

Need to patch things up? Use cotton thread for gentle mending or patches to repair small to medium holes and imperfections. When in doubt, bring it to a professional tailor.

Keep it combed, keep it patched, keep it in your closet (and out of the landfill).
