Price to quality ratio has dropped
"This smock dress from a few years back has been a staple summer piece for me. Since Everlane’s dramatic price increases I haven’t been shopping here so much and I knew from the get go that I was taking a huge risk buying this dress in another color. But it was on sale so I decided to take it. First of all, the delivery was a month late, the package had huge holes and was then repacked in a cardboard box. I got the dress and fabric felt of pretty good quality. I then put it on and immediately noticed that the main selling point for the dress, which was the sturdy smocking that held me in without a bra, had now turned into a looser, more relaxed smock detailing, which is why I have refrained from buying similar dresses from fast fashion brands. The dress is fine otherwise, but the smock part is not form-fitting and I will need to get it altered. As a previous frequent customer, I’m sad to see the prices increase and the quality decrease, soon to a fast-fashion brand level. Although the price gap (139€ retail price!!) to fast fashion brands is insane, the quality is only slightly better. I previously bought one of the new Alpaca sweaters which was ruined in just over a year (unlike my dreamy old ones), and emailed support whether or not their clothes should stand the test of time, and the answer was that it’s normal."
