We weren't joking when we named this shirt the Must Have
This piece features an oversized fit, shirt collar, front button closure and cuffs, long sleeves, and shirttail hem in our lightweight denim. Consider it a wardrobe essential.Conventional denim production is dirty business and we’re on a mission to clean it up. Here's how we're doing it differently—and why that matters for you.
Better denim starts with better materials. We prioritize certified organic and regenerative cotton — a tiny share of the world's supply — grown with less water and healthier soil practices. That same intention carries through to production: state-of-the-art factories that recycle up to 98% of their water, using ozone washing, air drying, and renewable energy to reduce water and energy use by design.
We work with mills and wash houses that have verifiably reduced chemical use, moving away from harmful treatments common in conventional denim. Our partners are independently tested against leading safer chemistry standards like bluesign, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and ZDHC — not self-reported claims. Fewer chemicals in your jeans, safer conditions for the people who make them, and lower environmental impact.
We don't guess at environmental impact — we verify it. Using Jeanologia's EIM, the industry benchmark standard for environmental denim wash impact, 96% of our washes score low to medium — meaning significantly less water, energy, and chemicals than conventional denim.
Our denim fabric is rigorously third-party tested multiple times from development through pre-production — verifying durability, consistency, and performance across fabric weight, tear strength, and color fastness. The result: denim built to get better with age, with more years in your wardrobe and fewer replacements.

"This shirt had a good weight and felt well made but the fit was terrible."
"Love the fit and the material"
"Thin material. Did not feel good quality. Returned."
"I was looking for a comfortable denim shirt that was still structured enough to wear with nice trousers. This one is the ideal weight and dark wash."
"I love the soft fabric and the dark color. I want a contrast if I wear w jeans. It's not too oversized and tucks in or can be worn out. The cuffs roll beautifully and it looks smart, not too "manly". I still wear an older, oversized boxy fit and this is completely different look. I love it!"
"Color is actually a bright blue denim, not the blackish blue depicted here. The straight, extremely oversized fit is supremely unflattering. It looks overall like I’m wearing a too long, too heavyweight denim borrowed from my 6’ 5” husband. Also a very cheap, rough denim. Can’t return because I washed it to see if it would soften and become less tube-like. So ugly and fat-making on me. Save your money!"
"great quality, heavy weight, not at all flimsy. I like the shorter collar so I can leave it up if I want that look. I got large which I probably need for shoulders - its a bit roomy but it works well with the length as you could use it as a "shacket" or tuck/tie for a more sophisticated look. Another Everlane win."
"My old one was a bit thinner and softer with a pocket. I miss all that but am pleased with the new version."
"I absolutely love this denim shirt! The quality is excellent, the fit is flattering, and it’s incredibly comfortable to wear. I’ve purchased it in every color and plan to keep adding more as they’re released. Definitely a 10/10 — highly recommend!"
"I love the fit, construction, and material, as always for all things Everlane. But this shirt had a cheap denim dye chemical smell. I didn’t want to take the risk of washing it to see if the smell comes off, and not being able to return it. So I decided not to keep it."
