Insane Model
"I tried to try this on in a store for sizing. The store didn’t hold it as stock and in fact only had a few items of clothing for a relatively large store, completely defeating the purpose of having a brick and mortar store at all. I was then told the store could order in the item, which is actually less convenient for me as I would again need to go to the store to try it on and hope it fit vs just having it delivered to my house. As I was told that free expedited shipping was only available to the store and I’d have to pay to have it shipped to my house to try on, I ordered it. Days later I received the notification it was delivered to the store and I again drove 30 minutes there to try it on. Once I arrived I was told it had been delivered but was in a box that had not yet been unpacked so I’d have to come back another day. Wasting another hour of my time I went back to the store to try it on. It didn’t fit. Something I would have known in 30 seconds if it was stocked in the store. What should have been the extremely simple process of seeing an item online and then walking into a store to try on the right size and purchase it turned into a multi day and extremely delayed ordeal to buy a sweater. For the life of me I don’t understand which overpaid and clueless MBA thought this model was a good idea but from a customers perspective I won’t try to shop from Everlane again. If you aren’t going to stock your stores then don’t bother having them. The one I visited seemed to have prioritized a minimalist aesthetic over having any actual clothes to purchase making it more of a 3D billboard than a store. Instructing sales staff to offer the option to “ship to the store” as if they’re doing anyone a favor is also infuriating - we all routinely shop online for delivery to our homes, the only benefit of shopping in person is that you can try on items for correct sizing and have the purchase instantly. I shouldn’t need to spend more time arranging details to purchase a sweater than I do for a day surgery."
