Description

Hey there, sailor

The Way-High® Sailor Jean features our signature Way-High® waist, a 29.5” inseam with an A-line, wide-leg silhouette in low stretch denim so you don't have to worry about these pants losing their shape. Your lower half will thank you. The best part? It’s made of premium organic cotton. Style runs small, we suggest sizing up.

Fit

  • High-rise with a wide leg. Slim fit through hips and thigh. Sits just above belly button.
  • A little stretch
  • If 5'6" or shorter, we recommend taking a 27.5" inseam for a floor-length slouchy look.
  • If 5'7" or taller, we recommend taking a 29.5" inseam for a floor-length slouchy look.

The Cleanest Denim You'll Find.

Conventional denim production is dirty business and we’re on a mission to clean it up. Here's how we're doing it differently—and why that matters for you.

Better Is Our Starting Point

Better denim starts with better materials. We prioritize certified organic and regenerative cotton — a tiny share of the world's supply — grown with less water and healthier soil practices. That same intention carries through to production: state-of-the-art factories that recycle up to 98% of their water, using ozone washing, air drying, and renewable energy to reduce water and energy use by design.

The Only Toxic We Appreciate Is the Song

We work with mills and wash houses that have verifiably reduced chemical use, moving away from harmful treatments common in conventional denim. Our partners are independently tested against leading safer chemistry standards like bluesign, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and ZDHC — not self-reported claims. Fewer chemicals in your jeans, safer conditions for the people who make them, and lower environmental impact.

Measured, Not Marketing

We don't guess at environmental impact — we verify it. Using Jeanologia's EIM, the industry benchmark standard for environmental denim wash impact, 96% of our washes score low to medium — meaning significantly less water, energy, and chemicals than conventional denim.

Can't Have Quality Without Standards

Our denim fabric is rigorously third-party tested multiple times from development through pre-production — verifying durability, consistency, and performance across fabric weight, tear strength, and color fastness. The result: denim built to get better with age, with more years in your wardrobe and fewer replacements.

Reviews

Great pants

"I have a similar cut pant in corduroy (Sailor pant) and really liked them so I ordered these as well. Very happy with them, would have liked the longer version but they were out of stock. Usually I'm a size 2 (25 jean size) but these have a bit of room so maybe could have gone with a size 0."

— Elah W. (4/5)

Love the jeans

"I love everything about this jeans. Great fit on my waist. The length is great too even its cover most of my feet but it’s how I like for wide legs jeans. I’m 4. 11 and 89 lbs. I wish everlane make more petite size in jeans with 27. 5 inseam."

— Mathurin B. (5/5)

Almost Perfect

"To preface: all of my favorite jeans are from Everlane. I don't think anyone does jeans better. And as with all of the jeans I've purchased from them, the delightfully rugged structure and flattering cuts are top-notch, to say nothing of the organically sourced material. So while I DO love these jeans for all of the above-listed qualities, I wish they were about 2 inches longer. For reference, I'm 5'4", 130lbs and ordered a size 25 with a 27. 5" inseam. If you're shorter, the length might be perfect. I was hoping these would fit as well as the High-key jeans (can't recommend enough) with their flowy comfort and a length that brushes the ground without getting under foot. These jeans, by contrast, feel like they're borderline too short, as though you ordered the wrong size. But the rest of the fit is perfect, so I can't recommend sizing up or they'll fit all wonky everywhere else. Case in point: if you want the entirety of your shoes to be visible get these jeans, they're super comfy. If you'd prefer that ultra-chill 90's / early 2000's wide-leg vibe check out the High-Key Jeans."

— Bethany E. (4/5)

Love them!!

"These “Sailor” jeans in deep blue seem more like barrel jeans but whatever. I wore them on a recent trip and was surprised how comfy and slimming my physique was. I looked polished and comfortable-it’s my kind of look! Thanks Everlane."

— Julia K. (5/5)

wide leg comfort and style

"This style is comfortable and flattering. I ordered a few inches larger so the pants would rest lower down and I could do a lot of bending with no constraints. The fabric is soft and drapes well. Love the long inseam."

— Carol Z. (5/5)

Yes.

"Exactly what I expected! Hem length is perfect."

— Adela S. (5/5)

Great cut

"Beautiful color and denim, very flattering cut. Next time I would size down one."

— Rebecca B. (5/5)

New Favorite Jeans

"The style and fit of these are so good. I sized up for a looser fit and glad I did because they’re perfect. They’re comfy too."

— Jaclyn L. (5/5)

Inconsistent sizing

"I love the original Way High Sailor Jean. I already have them in black. They fit like a glove, and I was hoping to get the same thing in blue denim. I bought the same size but they are much too small, and much too short. I am 5’5” and bought the recommended shorter inseam. Next time I would buy the longer ones, these are much too short. 5 stars for the overall style, 2 stars for the inconsistency."

— Kristi M. (2/5)

Excellent Quality… I just wish I could wear them

"I love the quality I’ve come to expect from Everlane, and look to them first for sturdy, comfortable lifetime wear. Unfortunately the sizing, at least for the bottoms is reliably inconsistent. Measurements within the same size across different products vary wildly, with some 23 jeans like the way high squeezing me too tight to bend and sit comfortably, and others like the size 23 utility barrel ballooning out and requiring a belt. It’s sturdy, beautiful denim, but these jeans are uncomfortably large and won’t stay up on their own without alterations. Final sale too, so no returns."

— Mariah B. (2/5)
