Conventional denim production is dirty business and we’re on a mission to clean it up. Here's how we're doing it differently—and why that matters for you.
Better denim starts with better materials. We prioritize certified organic and regenerative cotton — a tiny share of the world's supply — grown with less water and healthier soil practices. That same intention carries through to production: state-of-the-art factories that recycle up to 98% of their water, using ozone washing, air drying, and renewable energy to reduce water and energy use by design.
We work with mills and wash houses that have verifiably reduced chemical use, moving away from harmful treatments common in conventional denim. Our partners are independently tested against leading safer chemistry standards like bluesign, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and ZDHC — not self-reported claims. Fewer chemicals in your jeans, safer conditions for the people who make them, and lower environmental impact.
We don't guess at environmental impact — we verify it. Using Jeanologia's EIM, the industry benchmark standard for environmental denim wash impact, 96% of our washes score low to medium — meaning significantly less water, energy, and chemicals than conventional denim.
Our denim fabric is rigorously third-party tested multiple times from development through pre-production — verifying durability, consistency, and performance across fabric weight, tear strength, and color fastness. The result: denim built to get better with age, with more years in your wardrobe and fewer replacements.

"I bought these for my vacation. I wanted an easy, casual but polished vibe and I got it with these shorts!! Very cute and comfortable."
"I wear XS small in several Everlane shorts I have purchased, but not these. I could not even pull them on, very strange cut."
"Ease of a pull-on indeed! These shorts are close to impossible to pull on. The waistband is constructed as if there is a zip in the back, but there’s not. There’s just not anywhere nearenough fabric in the waistband, so it’s a painful tug of war to get it over the hips. Once on, they’re terrific. They look good and a comfortable BUT you dread having to go to the bathroom. I am fairly straight up and down, and they gave a tiny amount with pulling on and off. It’s still very tight, but not full on agony/ near impossible. But if you are curvy, either throw them away or have a zip inserted. It’s disappointing Everlane wouldn’t have picked this up in the design process."
"A nice light material would be much more wearable. These and hot and unflattering - way too bulky"
"I’m obsessed with these shorts. They pull on so nicely I’m 5 6 and 144 pounds. The fabric is such nice quality and durable. They are elevated but super comfortable. Can’t wait to wear these in Hawaii!"
"I’ve been looking for denim shorts that weren’t too short or too long. These are perfect! I also love the way the flair out some, it’s very flattering for more curvy girls. The one issue I have is that they were a struggle to pull up past my bum. That issue is getting better with wear."
"I wish the elastic on these had more give. I've got curvier hips so it takes a bit of maneuvering to pull on, but once they're on, they're very comfortable. I like how durable they feel and personally love the drapey style. Though I am worried I'll eventually stretch out the elastic."
"I’ve bought these in XL because I was worried that in L the waist would be to tight, but I could have sized down easily. These run big and get even bigger wearing them. Also, the crotch is very long. That said, the style and fabric are really cool and suit also my over 40, not so thin legs."
"I really like the thick, soft fabric of these shorts, the color (a washed black), the long inseam, and the pockets. I think it’s TTS although it’s a bit of a struggle getting it over my butt. But I don’t like the a-line shape (the way it flares out from the waist), which I think looks messy and unflattering. I’ll keep them because they’re so soft and comfortable, but unfortunately I’m really disappointed in the weird shape."
"I love the quality and fit of these shorts and the pockets are nice and deep. Only reason for 4 stars is the waist. They fit perfectly when on but they don’t have much stretch when pulling them on. So it can be a bit of a struggle to get them over my hips. I’m not super curvy so I would think some who are would have a hard time getting these in and off."
